A Northern Territory angler has danced his way into the winner’s circle after becoming the 15th fisho to snag a $10,000 tagged barramundi in Season 11 of Million Dollar Fish.
Joseph King, from Marakai, was night fishing with his partner at Corroboree boat ramp on Wednesday, 19 November, when he reeled in the prized 65cm fish without realising it carried a Season 11 red tag.
It wasn’t until his partner suggested taking a few photos that she noticed the all-important red tag attached to the barramundi The discovery sparked instant celebration on the boat ramp itself.
“We just started dancing! I’m holding the fish, dancing on the boat ramp,” Joseph recounted. the sheer shock and excitement kept him awake long after the successful catch. “I couldn’t sleep when I got home, I was that excited.”
Joseph, a commercial fisherman, said he couldn’t believe he’d made $10K on his day off and that he’d been saving for a new car, and the win will go towards that goal.

So far, Season 11 has paid out $160,000 in prize money, with official charity partner Surf Life Saving NT receiving $16,000, through donations tied to each $10,000 catch.
There are still 85 red-tagged barramundi worth $10,000 swimming in Top End waterways and 11 tagged fish carrying a life-changing $1 million tag – nine from Season 9, one from Season 10, and one from Season 11.
