Territory angler Wayne Pickard has reeled in the fourth $10,000 barramundi of Million Dollar Fish Season 12.

Wayne was fishing with a work colleague from the rocks at Cullen Bay on Sunday 18 October when he hooked the prized red-tagged barramundi, becoming the fourth winner of the season.

A regular fisher at Cullen Bay, Wayne often spots barramundi moving around the rocks and enjoys trying his luck at the popular fishing spot. This time, persistence paid off.

After hooking the fish using a soft lure, Wayne was treated to a tough battle as the barramundi made several runs around the jetty and pontoon. It wasn't until the fish had finally been landed and lifted up for a photo that Wayne's mates noticed the winning tag.

As they admired the catch, they spotted the distinctive red tag attached to the fish and quickly realised Wayne had landed one of the competition's prized barramundi. With the fish secured, Wayne called it a day and set about finding out exactly how much his catch was worth.

Wayne plans to put his winnings towards a well-earned holiday, with Bali among the destinations he is considering.

Official charity partner Surf Life Saving NT will also receive $1,000 thanks to Wayne's catch, bringing the organisation's total contribution from winning fish this season to $4,000.

There are still 96 red-tagged barramundi worth $10,000 waiting to be caught across the Northern Territory, along with the elusive fish carrying the Season 12 grand prize tag worth $1 million.
