Just six weeks into Season 11 of Million Dollar Fish, Australia’s richest fishing competition is raining red tags, with 14 prize-winning barramundi caught and $150,000 already paid out to lucky anglers.
The season’s second interstate winner, Jesse Wansbrough, from Fremantle in Western Australia, reeled in a 77cm red-tagged barramundi worth $10,000 on Monday, 10 November while visiting Borroloola.
He decided to throw in a line on the McArthur River, upstream of the Borroloola Crossing. He hooked the prize-winning barra and thought the line might snap when it wrapped around a log, but it held strong and he managed to reel it in safely.
“It’s a nice bonus for the trip. It’s pretty surprising,” Jesse said.
What started as a spontaneous cast turned into a golden catch that sent him home $10,000 richer, and he plans to put his winnings toward a trip and his mortgage.

His catch makes him the 14th lucky fisho to bag a tagged barra this season, proving that the odds are still hot for anglers chasing their own red-tagged reward. So whether you’re a local or visiting from interstate, the next big win could be yours.
There are still 86 red-tagged barramundi worth $10,000 swimming around Top End waterways, along with 11 fish carrying the life-changing $1 million prize-tag (nine from Season 9, one from Season 10 and one from Season 11).
Stay tuned for the announcement of the next Reel of Fortune incentive on 1 December 2025.
Season 11 of the Million Dollar Fish competition continues to reel in excitement across the Territory, as anglers chase the dream of landing the million-dollar barra. The competition runs until 31 March 2026.
